Hello,
I have been reading both here in mostly older posts that Fusion machines using Bootcamp (as I am) will fail if they are fired up under Mac 10.7.2 (my current version) with a USB video adapter (DisplayLink current version) connected. This appears as a known issue in some of the Fusion 3.x release notes but I can find no instance of this issue in any of the Fusion 4.x notes.
I have read recent postings on the DisplayLink site that the problem still exists but wanted to see VMWare's stand on this. It is such an easy and inexpensive way to add multiple monitors to my Mac system versus purchasing a second video card. From what I read, it is the way Windows handles the video that makes it fail under Fusion. I was curious whether using Fusion in Unity makes any difference?
I am a developer and really could use the extra screen space. Currently running Mac 10.7.2 on Early 2008 Dual-Quad Core machine with the latest version of Fusion 4.1.1 and Windows 7 Professional with all updates. Have not updated to 10.7.3 as I saw that introduced a rotation issue. I don't rotate monitors but figured prudent to just sit tight until I see if this is at all possible.
I am hoping maybe some progress has been made so that this ideal setup would work albeit a little slow on refresh of USB connected monitor I hear.
Thanks in advance for any help...
