Problem with vshield Edge

hi all



i have a deployed a vapp with one virtual machine through vmware vcloud  director.  Here i used Routed network for that virtual machine.

As long as VM and corresponding edge device are on same host , VM is  able to reach its gateway. There is no problem with this case.

Now,

If the edge device and VM are on DIFFERENT hosts , VM is not reachable  with the gateway. Meaning,if i ping the edge device from the VM , i  getting message "destination host unreachable"

now my question is, is there any limitation that edge and VM should be on same host ?
