I am using a VMWare Image (OpenSuse 11.2) running under a WINXP host for testing. The VMWare image is using NAT so it share the same IP address with the host ( it is a restriction in my environment that each PC can have one IP address). It is a TCPIP program with the client on WINXP trying to access the server running on OpenSuese using the IPaddress and the port number whihc the server program is listening on. In this case both the VMWare image and the Host are using the same IP address. Is this kind of testing possible ? I have not tried Host-only which says a private network shred with the host. But will that stop my VMWare image going to internet ? Using NAT both my WINXP host and OpenSuse image has no problem going to internet.
