Mancato avvio di Windows 10 dopo installazione VMware Workstation 15

Buonasera.

 

Qualche giorno fa ho riscontrato un problema di avvio di Windows 10 dopo l'installazione del software VMware Workstation 15. Al termine dell'installazione il programma ha effettuato un riavvio del pc ottenendo, però, un errore di schermata blu con codice INACCESIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE.

Tengo a precisare che ho scaricato questo software come aggiornamento per una versione precedente la cui garanzia era scaduta.

Ho pensato potesse essere un problema di qualche driver che il software abbia scritto nei file di avvio di Windows impedendone poi il riavvio.

 

Mi rivolgo così a voi per risolvere questo mio arduo quesito.

I purchased Fusion 11 PRO

 

I am getting "The CPU has been disabled by the guest operating system."

 

I am getting the same error message when attempting to create an Ubuntu VM, Ubuntu mini VM, Debian VM, Windows VM, any VM.

There is no information for MAC users of how to resolve this on vmware support forums.

 

My hardware:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) Mojave 10.14

New Horizon View 7.8 Instant-Clone option clarification

I found this little new (possible) gem in Horizon View 7.8 release:

 

Image Publish Computer Account

Publishing instant-clones requires an additional computer account in the same AD domain as the clones. If you want to use pre-created computer accounts instead of auto-created computer accounts, you must also create the additional computer account and specify its name here. Then you do not need to delegate Create and Delete of computer objects to the provisioning account.

I'm a bit confused about it and when or why I would use it.  I understand pre-7.8 required an Instant-Clone Service Account with specific AD permissions to work properly.  If I use this field is the Instant-Clone Service Account still needed?  Would I pre-create all the computer accounts and just specify one in this field during the creation of the pool?  What use case is this for?  Any deeper explanation would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

Setting up current virtual machine (Ubuntu) as dual boot

I have been working with an Ubuntu VM in my Windows 10 for a while. As I am starting to like it, I would like to have it as a dual boot option.

Is there a way I can Install my Ubuntu including all settings and files as a dual boot system besides my Windows 10?

NSX 6.4.3 Deployed VMs from vRA - some get connectivity some don't

Hi,

 

we are deploying VMs through vRA 7.5 in NSX 6.4.3 environment. What happens is the following: some VMs get deployed without problems and some get deployed but don't get network connectivity working and "guest OS customization timeout" happens. So deployment fails.

 

So when I check in vCenter, all VMs get connected to the same logical switch, get proper IP settings in Windows, but some cannot ping default gateway and cannot reach anything else outside their own network.

For example, 3 VMs deployed in the same network, deployment started within 2 minutes for each VM, they are running on the same ESXi host, connected to the same logical switch, and they all can ping each other and other VMs in the same network.

But some cannot ping their own gateway and cannot ping anything else outside their network. Any tips where to start with troubleshooting? It is the same VM template in question, so no differences between VMs.

vsan stuck initializing ssd

Hi my vsan which I don't use and assume I removed incorrectly is stuck at boot I would love to get in and remove it all together but its been sitting here for 8+ hours I don't think its gonna work is there a way I can skip this process at boot to get in and remove it. I really don't want to redo the node. Please Help.

Fusion Pro 11.0.2 has broken host/guest folder sharing

My host is 10.13 and my guest is 10.12. Many folder/file sharing operations seem to work just fine, it seems to only be re-creating folders on the host from the guest that has problems.

 

1. make a folder in the host and share it

2. in a command line C program in the guest, create a sub-folder in there, works

3. delete the sub-folder (either from guest or host it doesn't matter)

4. try to make the sub folder again. The BSD mkdir() call returns an error but yet the sub-folder is created 

 

So pick any command line program in the guest (here's /bin/bash) and you get this:

 

jrb-vm-sierra:~ jrb$ ls '/Volumes/VMware Shared Folders/fusion'

jrb-vm-sierra:~ jrb$

jrb-vm-sierra:~ jrb$ mkdir '/Volumes/VMware Shared Folders/fusion/guest'

I tried this in python also with os.makedirs(), behaves the same.

VMware, уменьшение размера HDD

 

Была необходимость увеличить жесткий диск на одной виртуальной машине (было 30 Gb, стало 170Gb) – с этим проблем не возникло.

Увеличил размер, нашел его в системе (Win XP) – добавил в основной раздел и проблем собственно не было – сделал свои дела, обратно высвободил место как неразмеченную область (оставил 30 винт, 140 неразмеченная область) – но в настройках виртуальной машины винт видеться как единое целое – 170 Gb.

Как то жалко оставлять 140 Gb на данной виртуалке… - есть ли возможность высвободить их с данной виртуальной машины не затронув ее системные данные?

vSAN: Mismatched Versions

Note: This is all my home lab

 

I have been running 3 ESXi hosts on ESXi 6.7 and 1 host on ESXi 6.5. The 6.5 host is too old to ugprade, 6.7 will not install due to the old CPU. The 6.7 hosts have Virsto.DiskFormatVersion set to 5, so they are compatible with the 6.5 host.

 

Yesterday, I added a new 6.7 host, and I forgot to change the Virsto.DiskFormatVersion on this new host, so it was added to the cluster with Virsto.DiskFormatVersion set to 6, and now, the 6.5 host cannot see any VMs on the vsanDatastore.

 

I have removed the offending 6.7 host from the cluster, and removed the 6.5 host as well. I change the Virsto.DiskFormatVersion on the new hosts to 5, and re-added the 6.5 host, but it can still not see anything on the vsanDatastore.

 

Is there a way I can salvage this? I really need that 6.5 host, so I am hoping someone has a way to help me get this working again.

Virtual SAN Disk Balance

Hi,

 

I have a vSAN environment that this message appeared when I put the server into maintenance. So I did the rebalancing manually successfully.

 

Recently this alarm appears again, but this time I did nothing and my environment had no shutdown problem or something similar.

 

Studying to understand why this error, I found the information that I can execute the RVC command (vsan.check_limits) and check if any of the percentages are next or above 80%.

 

I want to see these percentages to understand why this occurred, given that our environment has not undergone any changes.

 

Then the question arose:

 

1 - Is there any other possibility besides what I found as (HW Failures / Removals, Host being put into maintenance mode or Incorrect policy change)?

 

As for example failure to allocate a machine on a host that had no hardware resource or some other action other than a physical failure?

 

The question is how do I find out what is causing this problem !!!

 

2 - Is there any way I can verify this% information in the Vsphere Client Web?

 

3 - If we have never done the rebalancing, can I lose data? Can my environment stop?

 

4 - In the VMware documentation says that I can disable the alarm. I looked and the error we received was yellow, that is, it is not critical. Even without proactive rebalance enabled, rebalancing will occur when it reaches 80% (vsan.check_limits)?

 

5 - Does proactive rebalance say it will start whenever% (vsan.check_limits) reaches 30% of disks?

Guest Customization Windows 10 1803 starts but doesnt finish

I am building a new Windows 10 1803 template and using the same guest customization that I have used with previous builds of Windows 10. The vm is cloned from the template and applies sysprep successfully but the machine never reboots/renames or gets added to the domain.

 

I have rebuilt the Guest Customization settings from scratch and still get the same result.

 

Any ideas?

Upgrade 6.7 to 7 getting " Can't start upgrade, node removing in progress"

I'm trying to do an upgrade of our 6.7 Vrops environment. After the PAK is uploaded and verified, I get "Can't start upgrade, node removing in progress".  This is for the OS upgrade piece.

 

I've rebooted the servers, I've taken the cluster offline.  It's 3 nodes. It's the out of the box config.  I have added any plug-ins or fancy dashboards. 

 

Any ideas?

UUID for network in VMware.

As there is no UUID for network (object) in VMware, then how can one identify the network uniqueness as there is option to rename the network label?

 

My Usecase:

Currently I store network info in db based on it's name. As one can rename the network label therefore I don't have way to identify whether the old and renamed network is same.

For VM there is UUID attribute from which I can identify the vm uniqueness, but for network there is no such attribute.

 

One way is to use moref id, but I don't found any VMware KB article which gives guarantee that moref id is not change across life of entity. (i.e. it stay there even after vcenter upgrade, after restoring the vCenter database from a backup , after host  re-register)



Other scenario where  moref id is not relabel for uniqueness:

During upgrade one can create new vCenter vm, then replace the existing vCenter vm by shutting down the old vCenter vm and giving same fqdn  to new vCenter VM. Manually re-register all host in new vcenter VM.

Добрый день, прошу помочь в решение возникшей проблемы. Мне в наследство от прошлого админа достался сервер (мат плата Z9PR-D12/4l, 16гб х2 ОЗУ) с развернутым ESXi version=6.5.0, build=5969303 и 4 ВМ на нем, за год он 3 раза падал, но после перезагрузки без проблем включался и продолжал работать до недавних пор. После очередного падения на стадии загрузки он выдал мне следующую ошибку.

Наверное надо сказать, что эта ошибка вылезла не сразу, первое время он вообще не включался, т.е. после включения на мониторе ничего не происходило, мат. плата при некоторых попытках загрузки издавала 4 коротких сигнала, мигал красный датчик, я решил что проблема либо в БП либо в мат. плате, решил начать с замены БП, был этот

Я взял такой же, но на 800w, поменял и ничего не поменялось, в тот же вечер я вытащил батарейку из мат платы, так как вычитал где то что это может помочь ( знаю глупо ), после того как я решил что уже ничего сделать нельзя и проблема в мат. плате я поехал домой. На следующий день я решил еще раз проверить машину и представьте себе она включилась и все заработало, я решил что "Пронесло", выключил машину для того что бы переставить со стола в рабочее положение и попытался снова включить, после чего и вылезла ошибка с первого изображения.

Пожалуйста подскажите как устранить данную ошибку? Я не знаком с ESXi, это мой первый опыт работы с этим софтом, я подозреваю что из-за многочисленных включений и отключений через "кнопку" я повредил файлы загрузки, но у меня нет опыта в восстановление\установки\настройки ESXi, и я боюсь потерять образы ВМ.

I started studying VM and trying create vcenter on gcp.

I need windows vcenter.

but i cannot install VCSA step4...
