Hi everyone,
I've experiencing a strange hiccup during vMotion on UCS Blade. I've tried isolating the nic for vmotion but still no difference. NIC's are 10Gb FCoE and connected on iSCSI Fujitsu Eternus DX80
As a test, I'm playing a movie/mp3 while doing vMotion and there is about a second lag just before vMotion completes.
Any thoughts?

De lo que encontrado el "subscription only" solo da derecho a las nuevas versiones (principales, menores y de mantenimiento) del Software de Vmware, pero no incluye soporte directo de VMware.
El (SnS) Support & Subscription Service ofrece soporte y suscripcion juntos con VMware, la mas economica opcion para configuraciones pequeñas seria VMware Basic Support & Subscription Service (12X5).
Se puede adquir o renovar solamente las actualizaciones del software es decir solo el Subscription service (o Subscrition only).

Estou realizando TCC e o Tema é sobre a Cluster Failover com o VMware High Availability.
Estou quebrando minha cabeça no metodo de validação do ambiente que irei apresentar.
Gostaria da ajuda de vocês. Existe alguma ferramenta/software que vocês conheçam que possa validar o funcionamento do Cluster HA?
Por enquanto meu metodo principal é apresentar o ambiente criado a um especialista Vmware. Ele irá responder um questionario respondendo a perguntas o ambiente apresentado pode ser importante para uma empresa.
Se vocês puderem me ajudar como algum metodo de validação que existe, agradeço.

I have 3 domain controllers (Windows 2003R2) none virtualized and then 3x ESXi 4.1 Hosts which also have a virtualized vCenter VM. Access to vCenter is controlled via Active Directory.
I want to retire one of my old Domain Controllers so I moved all the roles from it etc as normal, then shut down it to see if anything failed. I still have 2 other DCs/GCs. All desktops/server/user services still work fine, but vSphere stopped accepting logons and gave me this in the event log.
The directory server has failed to update the ADAM serviceConnectionPoint object in the Active Directory. This operation will be retried.

It sounds to me like it is only looking at the DC I had powered down ready to retire (called DC1 while my others are DC2 and DC3). How do I make sure vSphere is not tied to a specific DC as I guess this is what has happened here?

Virtual machines stored on E:\VirtualMachines 923 GB Free.
Workstation runs fine. i can run multiple machines from the workstation with no issues. However, when I try to enable Vmware Sharing, I continually get this error. Workstation 7 had been previously installed.
As per other posts I found, I uninstalled the workstation service and checked the box to deleted the previous configurations.
I then rebooted the workstation and did a fresh install of 8.03. The installation requested the serial number. However, it seemed to know where the virtual machines were.
I have not been able to determine how to troubleshoot this error.
Any input is greatly appreciated.

My environment have vsphere 4.1 and vcenter 4.1.0. Cluster have four ESXi 4.1 hosts.I am planning to upgrade the only Vcenter from 4.1 to 5.0. After Vcenter upgradation ESXi 4.1 use which service, AAM service or FDM service? Hosts become mater/slave or primary/secondary?

I am not a programmer, So may this be a silly questions.
I am using the attached script to hardening a VM. Where us the script do hardening in all the virtual machines running in the host. But I want to do it in one or two virtual machines. I modified the script and try to pass my virtual machines name. But no luck and scripts fails to add the value. Please suggest to how to do it for a particular virtual machines.

Hi,
Kinda new to the community and i've been reading a lot of posts of installing the ESXi Instance to a USB.
I have a server with the follwoing specs:
HP DL380 G6
2x Intel Xeon X5560
16GB Ram
I am trying to install the ESXi 5.0 U1 to a Cruzer Fit 4Gb.
The install went well and the installation guide says it is successfully installed and asks for a restart.
After the restart, the server would not recognize the USB key and does not boot to the ESXi that is installed to the Cruzer Fit
I have previously done a USB install on this hardware, due to hardware failure (Processor) we had to re-install the instance.
Any advise?

I heard this from someone that delta.vmdk size cannot exceed beyond the flat.vmdk size means if used hard disk space of a vm is 1gb and then you took a snapshot a delta.vmdk is created and delta.vmdk cannot grow beyond the 1gb and then new delta.vmdk is created. Is this true? If anyone has any experience in this please share this.

1.I installed VMware Workstation 7 in Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.
2.In the Control pannel->Network and Internet->Network Connections of Windows 7 i can see only VMnet1(Host-only) and VMnet8(NAT) adapters
but i didn't see the VMnet0(Bridge) adpater.
3.Here the network is Wireless.
4. I checked for vmnetcfg.exe file in the Program FIles of VMware in the C: drive of Windows7 and the vmnetcfg.exe is existing.
5.while i am issuing ipconfig /all command in DOS it is listing
a) wireless LAN
b) VMnet1 and
c) VMnet8 .
But,it is not showing me the VMnet0.
6. In the Edit->Virtual Network Preferences->Virtual Network Editor screen i am getting the VMnet0.

3.Blindly i selected Bridge network while prteparing the Virtual machine for guest OS( i didn't checked whether VMnet0 is available or not).
Due, to that when i am using VMware Workstation the internet is disconnecting from the Host System(Windows 7).

If VMnet0 adapter is compulsary, then how can i get that ?

Hi Guys,
I have recently set up Hyperic to monitor a couple of remote offices
as a trial to see whether it would work within our organization.
For each search I set up an availability alert that emails me when
availability state changes and hence emails me with the notification.
It seems to have run fine for the first couple of weeks, however what
I am finding now is that 5 of the servers seem to be changing
availability every minute. I am getting 5 emails a minute telling me
that availability is at 0%.
I am not super experienced with Hyperic, and am wondering whether
anyone could give me some pointers as to why this happens?

Hi All. Have an enviroment based on vSphere 5 and View Manager 5. The persistent disk capacity in view manager showing "Unknown" status. But the functionality of disks in VM's are fully functional. I think it's happened after changing datastore name. I.E. if the previos name xxxx_xxx_xxx, the new name is vvv_vvv_vvv. The view manager showing that the persistent disk in datastore xxx_xxx_xxx have unknown capacity, however the datastore new name is vvv_vvv_vvv. Can the Rebalance operation fix this or I need to chek something else? Also datastore which must contain persistent disks are empty. I need to migrate persistent disks from linked clones datastore to persistent disks datastore. How can I reach it?

At first, i hope that i am in the correct forum.
My problem:
I have two identical PC's, one with WinXP SP3 and the other one with Win7.
I wanted my XP in a VMWare on Win7 PC, so i made an image of WinXP with VMWare-Converter 5.0.0
I tried to start this image in VMWare-Workstation 7.0.0 but i got a bluescreen. So i changed the the *.vmx file.
Now i can start WinXP in Vmware-Workstation on Win7 but the graphic is terrible and the resolution is minimal.

Can i do something to get my WinXP in VMware usable?
