Do my application need to have intelligence of VMCI ?

Hello Champs,
I want to use VMCI but I'm not sure how VMCI will optimize the internal VM communications? do my application need to have intelligence of VMCI or any application like IIS, SQL who communicates with other VMs running on same ESXi server's will use VMCI as default stack to communicate ?
