Hi guys,
I have a bit of a weird problem. Basically, I have migrated (force migrated) one of our two hosts to esxi 5. Everything seems fine (except long boot time on vmw_satp_alua loaded successfully), I can see the datastore, browse it; i can see the devices, but it seems like only one iscsi port works at a time.
i.e. I can't vmkping or see all the paths on the new host.
I have post some screeshots so you can see the config and also tell you a bit about the infrastructure.
We have two hosts, HP DL380G6 and one SAN MA2000 and two physical switches working as redundancy.
On the 1st host (working host esx 4.1) i can vmkping all 4 IPs (iscsi to san) 10.0.1.1, 10.0.1.2, 10.0.2.1, 10.0.2.2 and also can see all the paths to LUNs and datastore etc.
On the 2nd host (upgraded esxi 5) I can only vmkping 2 IPs at a time. it changes ocassionally itself to which one it wants to use. e.g. right now its communicating with 10.0.1.1, 10.0.1.2.. and after a reboot (i guess) it will change to 10.0.2.1, 10.0.2.2. and I can only see 2 paths to LUNs instead of 4.
I know it seems like network issue but i have checked every network setting and it seems the way it was.
My question is: is there something simple that i am missing? if so, i would appreciate your help.
2nd, will it be easy to install the 2nd host from scratch without any affect to SAN or the 1st working host?
At the moment i have migrated all VMs to the working host.
It's all in production so I really dont want to mess around with LUNs in case i corrupt something.
Thanks
1st Host (esx4.1 - working) as you can see below, i can see all devices/datastores and paths are all fine.
On the 2nd host (esx5) I can see the devices and datastore fine
But the paths on 2nd host (esx5) are only showing two (10.0.1.0 atm)
This is the network adapters for the 1st host (esx4.1 - working)
And this is the 2nd host (esx5) network adapters.
on the 2nd host (esx5) i can see all the dynamic discovery and the static discovery same as on the 1st host (esx4.1)
any help would be appreciated as im a beginner.
PS: I have tried disabling and enabling and re-scanning iscsi and also rescanning datastores etc but no joy. alot of reboots as well..
thanks
Edited: Fixed it
