ESXi 4.1 Update 1 - 3ware 9550SX Driver will not Re-Install

I had a working system, and then upgraded to ESXi 5.0, forgetting that I had manually added the 3ware 9550sx driver to the ESXi4.1 system. When 5.0 came up all I could see is the boot disk, not the 3ware 4-disk RAID.

I have tried everthing to get the 3ware driver to load, but the original driver location changed when LSI bought 3ware, and it now will not install correctly. Using the ESXi CLI the driver install process tells me it is installed, but it never actually does, and I cannot see the VMs on the RAID parition hanging off the 3ware 9550sx card.

I have even tried moving the system to a 32-bit MB with PCI-X, the PCI form-factor the 3ware card is in:

Is there a way I can read the files from a VMware ESXi 4.1 parition with another OS? 3.5 will not isntall on my 32-bit system, the CDROM works, but 3.5 complains it cannot find the target IDE ATA disk (the CDROM is ATA).
