Hi,
since a couple of days, we are having some trouble with the network connectivity of new virtual machines.
Basically, this is what we've got:
A vSphere 4.1 essentials Cluster with 3 hosts plus a couple of standalone ESXi 4.1 hosts, all running version 4.1.0 buid 582267.
On these hosts, we have got the following network settings:
One default VM Network without a specific VLAN ID and 3 additional VLAN Networks.
All machines are running on IBM BladeServers (HS22 and HS22V).
All existing machines are running without any problems, but if we create a new VM, we get some very strange connectivity problems.
If we create the new VM with the default VM Network, all other VMs from the same host can reach the new VM just fine (no pings lost). However, if we try to reach the new VM from a different host or any other machine, we get about 80-90% pings lost.
Strange enough, if we change the Network to one of the VLANs the VM can be reached fine from any host, so this seems to be related to the default VM Network. Moving the new VM to another host doesn't help because the problem exist on every host. Existing VMs on the default VM Network will work on any ESXi host though.
Any thoughts on this strange behaviour for newly created VMs? I have already tried the following things to get those VMs working:
- Re-Installing VMWare Tools
- Re-Configuring the Network Adapters (E1000, VMXNet3)
- Updating ESXi Hosts to the latest patch level
- Updating the BladeServers Firmware to the latest release
- Updating the VMWare Drivers for the Network cards (Online Broadcom NetXtreme II)
None of that helped so far, so any help would be highly appreciated.
Best Regards
