We are currently working through a Microsoft Support case we have launched, because of substandard performance of one of our virtual servers.
One of the answers we got back is, that the driver for the virtual harddisk in the Guest OS could be out of date:
"Storage driver LSl Logic PCI-X Ultra32O SCSI Host Adapter is more than two years old
Server: MBSMXO26 Storage driver file c:\windows\system32\drivers\symmpi.sys on server mbsmxo26.migrosbasel.ch is more than two years old. Check with your vendor to find out if a newer version is available. lnstalled driver details: 1.10.05.00
(NT.041 118-1101) -20051130040000.000000060+"
I wonder if there is any truth to that. I was under the impression that, if one keeps the vmware tools up to date, automatically the latest hardware drivers would be applied to the guest os ?
Thanks for any opinions
