After cloning a 2008R2 server, and performing a sysprep on the cloned server, the server will get an "autochk is missing" error and then the BSOD. The BSOD is c000021a, which according to my reading is system files mismatched. Ive noticed that if I perform the clone without VMware tools installed, then perform the same sysprep commands, I have no issues. Ive tested this several times and its always bsod with vmware tools, w/o vmware tools, NO BSOD.
I have been able to fix the issue by booting to iso, using diskpart, and clearing the nodefaultdriveletter, but doing this on every server I clone is not an option.
Performing the same diskpart commands on the source doesnt fix the issue on the clone.
So how can I keep vmware tools installed on the source, w/o having the BSOD issue? Ive just upgraded the tools when this started, so Im curious if Im somehow missing a setting or something obvious to everyone but me.
I am doing a live clone, shutting down the source doesnt help and Im required to leave the source running (no templates). Im using sysprep /oobe /generalize.
Thanks in advance!
