NFS exceptionally slow - vmkernel problem?

VMware Community,

I'm hoping someone can assist.

In order to present templates to multiple seperate ESX environments, I am trying to use an NFS Mount.

I setup a Windows 2008 R2 server (as a VM) with NFS services, and managed to get the Datastore to mount without an issue.

However I'm finding it exceptionnally slow. For example, I started a storage vMotion of a 40GB VM to the NFS store at 11am, and at 3pm it is still going. The network traffic on the Windows Server hosting NFS is negligible. I see the Host Network traffic only go up slightly when i start the svMotion.

Could it be because the vmkernel port being used is the same one for Management traffic? I have 2 uplinks assigned which are 1GB each. Teaming policy is based on NIC load, and i have network I/O control turned on.

Any tips greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Nick
