I am currently running a copy of a Win XP Pro VM from an external HDD. I ensured there were no snapshots, defragged the C:\ through Windows, used the Shrink utility in VM Tools and use the Disk Cleanup tool from the VMware Fusion main menu. The vm disk size is set to 40 GB in Fusion, NOT Pre-allocated and checked Split into 2 GB files. The Windows instance is only using 9 GB. The vm bundle size is 43 GB. It will not shrink. This is a copy of a vm that is located physically on my Mac Book Pro. I periodically shrink my VM on my MBP to 14 GB with no problems. I don't understand why my copy is more than twice the size of the original.
Please provide any additional assistance. I've ready through several forums and have tried every recommendation. Thanks.
