Many of you pre-registered for May 2012's VCDX4 defenses in the Toronto, Canada, metropolitan area. Now it is time to take the next step. If you intend to submit an application for Toronto, please follow the link below to a short survey/registration form. Note: this registration form does not generate an automated acknowledgement. You'll get an email from a human being (probably me!) within a few days.

I am sure many of you are wondering, "What comes next? Will Toronto be the last opportunity to attempt VCDX4, or will I have another opportunity before VCDX5 becomes the only game in town?" This decision is not made solely (or even mostly) by me and my successor Mark Brunstad, and it is not final. Because I believe in never sugar-coating the bad news, I might as well continue dishing it out: there is a material chance that a final decision will not be reached before March 12, 2012, which is the deadline for applying for Toronto.
Here is my guidance: if you have a design in hand now, and your design meets the criteria laid out in the VCDX4 Handbook and Application, and you can defend it in front of skeptical peers, apply for Toronto. If you're not ready, wait for the next thing.
