When installing any of the version 8.0.x releases of VMware Workstation to my Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit system (patched up to the updates released for January 2012 -- if this is relevant...) I rece3ive the following warning/error dialog near the end of the process:
--> Warning 1946: Property "System.AppUserModel.ID" for shortcut "VMware Workstation.lnk" could not be set. <--
According to information from the following Microsoft article this registry accessible property is used:
"...can be used in conjunction with an explicit AppUserModelID to further control the grouping and pinning associated
with a window, the display name and icon used for it in the taskbar, and the command to launch either an application
pinned to the taskbar or a new instance of the application through that application's Jump List. ..."

If anyone could clarify if this warning has "any teeth" and needs to be addressed further I'd appreciate any information that you can pass along.
Thanks,
