Hi,
I'm trying to get vmware going for the first time, after spending the past two years exclusively using XenServer.
The dedicated server I'm using has restrictions on the network, locking down down which MAC addresses can use which IPs. To use additional IPs they are routed through the primary server IP.
So of course when spinning up a VM in vmware, it's going to need a gateway IP and will have its own MAC. With this setup the gateway would be the vmware node.
But I can't seem to see any way to allow the vmware node to do routing.
Has anyone encountered this type of scenario before? Unless theres a solution, the dedicated server I'm using is useless to me and I'll need to find another hosting company instead, one that either doesnt employ MAC restrictions or creates a proper VLAN with my IPs in it.
Regards,
James
