I have vmware 8.01 with two virtual machines. The host os Win7 64 bit ultimate, the guests are win7 32 bit ultimate. The first VM was created by workstation, with 80 Gb HDD, and this VM works fine, the size of vmdk file is constant.
The second was created by virtualisation of a physical machine. This has a 298 Gb HDD. I created it three months ago, and now the size of this VM is 505 Gb in the host's file system. This VM, named "Prospero" has ten vmdk files:
Prospero.vmdk 240 Gb
Prospero-000001.vmdk 19 Gb
Prospero-000002.vmdk 116 Gb
Prospero-000003.vmdk 40 Gb
Prospero-000004.vmdk 56 Gb
Prospero-000005.vmdk 12 Gb
Prospero-000006.vmdk 3.3 Gb
Prospero-000007.vmdk 4.3 Gb
Prospero-000008.vmdk 13 Gb
Prospero-000009.vmdk 14 Gb
Yesterday the filesize of the last vmdk file was only 500 Mb. Now it's 14 Gb.
At the beginning I defined snapshot generation, and later I swithed it off, but the growing of the size of vmdk files continues day by day.
The VMWare Tools says: "Shrink disk is disabled for this virtual machine"
What can I do to stop this growing and return to the normal 298 GB size?
I attached the vmx file.
