running script at ESXi boot up?

Hi all
I have a question for the forum one.

I have a problem on my ESXi 5.0 related to some sata disks that occasionally are not seen by the Hardware after the POST. That's right an HW problem not an ESXi.
The best way would be to replace them hard disks, but no budget at the moment and to be fair they work totally fine most of the times.
BTW - No firmware/BIOS upgrade is available either...

What it appears to be a dirty trick to work around this problem is to reboot the machine.
I'd say 2/3 of the times the disks (4 of them) are there where 1/3 of the times at least one disk is missing. If a disk a missing the VM using it will not boot (they are raw mapped disk)

To cut a long story short what I wanted to ask here is:

Is there any way to run a script when ESXi boots up? My idea would be to check how many HD are seen on the system -before running any VM- and if less then 4 disks are seen just reboot the box. e.g. Would the /etc/rc.local help here?

Thanks!
