Setting up a DR site and used my old ESX 4.0 update 1 boxes to try and put together a virtual server for one of our applications. I used my laptop to connect to the ESX box on the local lan at the site with no issues. I can make changes to it, setup servers, etc... The problem is, I can't connect to that ESX box outside of the LAN from our Main Site or anywhere else for that matter. There aren't any firewall rules that need to be in place because the IP of the ESX box is the same as the local LAN at that site and I can ping everything else but that device remotely. Connectivity works for all other devices but that. What on the ESX box could be causing that? Currently I don't have a Vcenter Server managing that ESX box but will be putting one down there this week. That wouldn't prevent the connection though, correct? Any thoughts on what I could check? This ESX box was at our main site at one time and had an IP from the main site and then I brought it to the DR site and by command line changed the IP. I checked the hosts file and it updated as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
