I am a technician that is just starting to learn about virtualization. We have a network of 300
workstations and do not use virtualization. We image each workstation individually as
installed or replaced.
We have 5 different models of workstations installed. When we had NT on the workstations
we had to have and image that was unique for each workstation. We are now using XP
(soon to go 7) and do not have to have a different image for each model.
I understand that this problem of having multiple platforms and needing different
images for each is solved by virtualization. But wasn't this issue solved by XP?
What I am missing as to the need of virtualization at the workstation level?
