The purpose of starting this discussion is to find out if there're people that have, successfully, booted a non-Windows OS from a usb device or a CF Card in a Sony VAIO laptop, especially the VGN AR250G (which happens to be the one I'm using right now).
The interesting point in all this's that the manual for the VAIO says that it can be booted up from a usb device after hitting <F11>; (if I'm not remembering wrong) after the mfg.'s logo appears on the screen after powering up. Have a stick with DSL (a working os proved in different machines) & now Puppy Linux 431 in a CF Card, neither of them boot. In the case of the card have installed the said OS in about 3-4 different configurations, both, inserted in its slot as well as via an interphase for the usb port.
Have been thinking that this sort of problems might induce a person to use/experiment with a Virtual Machine & is this last idea that drove me to post this: in search for knowledge beyond the point where I'm standing today!
Thanks to any that has something useful to say/include in this thread for the benefit of all!
