4 NFS VMs that were running on a hosts that PSODed and left .lck files in the directory and apparently maintains a lock on all of the other files in the VM directory. I cannot deleted the .lck files as su - and I cannot move/copy the files from the directory to another. The error when trying to add to inventory is "General error... Communication with the virtual machine might have been interrupted." and the VM add fails. I have also tried to re-create the VM and link the VMDK, and the add fails with the same error. The folder cannot be deleted. I could easily restore from backup but am bothered that the files from the datastore cannot be deleted. I have checked the host for running VMs and they do not appear. In fact, the PSOD somehow destroyed the DvSwitch and all storage connection. So, when adding the host back to the cluster, it essentially required a reconfiguration.
I saw a post that referred to a metadata inconsistency without a explanation of how to resolve. The resolution seems to be contacting VMware support. Any ideas?
