I have a Macbook Pro 17", 2.3 ghz Feb 2011 model. I have 8GB. I created a Windows 7 VM and allocated 2 virtual cpu's and about 2.5GB of memory. My VM runs from a second, dedicated internal hard drive just for VM's (I replaced the super drive with the Apple 750GB hdd for this purpose).
I recently installed Zune (since this is one of the few apps I can't get on Mac that I need, since I am paying a subscription) and it is extremely choppy when playing audio, particularly when it is downloading music. It seems less choppy when its' only playing back Zune. My MBP still has almost 2GB free so I don't believe memory is the issue. The Zune music that I download goes to the shared folder, shared between OSX and the VM. However, it doesn't seem like the disk should be an issue, either. I also notice that when I switch from unity to full screen it "chops" the music as well. In any case, VM Ware seems practically unusable with Zune- I don't like my music choppy.
Has anyone had success getting Zune to work nicely? I also use this VM to do software development with Visual Studio, so I need to have the memory and cpu allocated.
Thanks,
Greg
