Server +/MCITP first or VCP??

Hello All,

This is my first post here, so please let me know if this is not the correct location for this discussion.  First let me give some background on myself before my question.  I am currently a Team Lead at a large IT Company providing technical support.  We support over 30,000 users and it is an extremely fast pace and technical role.  I had started as a level 1 analyst, then level 2, then Process analyst, and now team lead and am in my 5th year with the company.

I currently have ITIL foundations Certification and A+.  I do also have two A.A.S degrees in IT.  I will likely get more ITIL certifications this year as well, as it is part of the role I am in.

I am looking to move from the HelpDesk world in to a Server Admin, Network Admin, or System Admin type role.

My question.  Should I first go down the Server + or MCITP path or could I jump right into VCP?  I am really interested in becoming VCP certified, but I am not sure if not having the Server Certs would hold me back??

What do you all think?  Thank you so much for your time and I look forward to seeing your responses.
