I am new to VMs, and nomenclature may well be an issue . . .
I set up an ubuntu-64 vm on Fusion 4.1 running on LIon, as a test.
Now I need more disk space: The specific problem that triggered this need was a failed attempt to
downlaod a package (3 Gb).
So far:
1. I went to Virtual Machines -> Settings (for the ubuntu vm)
Under Removable Drives, I selected Hard Disk (SCSI), and moved the slider from 20 Gb to 50 Gb.
I left "Ubuntu 64-bit.vmdk" in File name box. Is this the appropriate file? (Do I have an option?)
I also left "Split into 2GB files" selected.
That did indeed seem to provide more disk space . . .
2. I installed GParted, found the "unallocated" new space, created a partition and formatted it for ext4
(as a primary partition) (/dev/sda3, while the boot/os is on /dev/sda1)
It mounts under /meda (I manually mount it after boot.) and does not cure the problem that triggered
my search.
Is there a way forward w/o re-installing? Please remember that I am new to VMs.
Thanks,
Tim
