Corrupted VMs after moving them to new datastore

I have ESXi 5 running my VMs and it is attached to a FreeNAS via NFS and iSCSI.  I tried to move my VMs last night using the move file function in the datastore browser.  That ended up taking all of my thin provisioned VMs and attempting to shove them into 730GB of space.  This failed miserably.   What I have now is several very very large corrupted vmdk files and no way of accessing them or even trying to see what data is still on them.

I tried to boot the VMs after moving them.  No luck

I have attempted to create a new VM using these vmdks, no luck.

I have tried to mount the vmdks to an exisiting VM.

I downloaded the vmdk files from the server to my desktop and tried to mount them using workstation.  There I get a message that the files are not vmdk files.

Any help here is appreciated.

I'm rather lost here and all information I have found on google shows errors or tools for ESXi 3 or 4.  Nothing for 5.

Thanks,
