We have built an appliance using VMWare Studio 2.1.0.1318 Build 268792. It so happens that some of the instances of this appliance do not allow the root user to login from the UI where as the root user can ssh to the appliance using the same password.
I tried to look at vami-lighthttp error log with DEBUG enabled and all I could see was 403 Forbidden for www-Auth.
I even did an strace on the lighthttp process and I could see something like this:
read(11, "HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden\r\nWWW-Auth"..., 16384) = 102
Earlier I thought that update to the appliance causes this but it seems new deployments also can cause this.
Does VAMI framework maintain its own password file other than /etc/passwd? Whether yes or not, how can I reset password and be able to login from the UI.
