Hello,
One of the VM in my VMware ESXi 4.1 environment went down unexpectedly few days ago. I am working on to find out the root cause of the issue. In the vm logs I am seeing a logs which says " The lock protecting 'vmname.vmdk' has been lost. This might be due to underlying storage problems, resulting in this virutal machine getting powered on another host as well. Power off this virtual machine on this host now. Verify that the virtual machine is running on another host before clicking OK.
After logging this message the machine got powered off on its own and did not come up until I manually powered on it.
Can someone help me finding the exact cause behind this issue?
I checked the other VMs on the same datastore and they didn't log any such logs and never went down. I also checked the VMs that were running on the same host at that time but none of the virtual machine suffered this issue.
Please help me in finding out the root cuase.
