I'm running VMware Workstation 7 on a Windows 7 64 bit PC with a Core i7 860 processor.
I installed ESXi 5 as a VM inside Workstation. I installed a vCenter server on a Win 2008 VM in Workstation. I also installed the vSphere client on my computer as well as on a Win XP VM in Workstation.
I made sure that the Intel VT is enabled in the BIOS which it wasn't at first.
Now when I try to install a VM within ESXi it appears to be working at first but I can't open a console on either computer with the vSphere client through vCenter or with a direct connection to the ESXi host. I get an error message that says:
host cpu is incompatible with the virtual machine's requirements at cpuid level ...
Would installing ESXi before the Intel VT was enabled cause an issue? Or is installing ESXi within Workstation an issue? I thought it was supported.
I also tried a 32 bit XP VM and got various errors as well when trying to configure it for installation or even open a console to start the installation.
Ill attach some screenshots of the errors as well as my BIOS setup.
