VM allocated 8G RAM guest sees 3.1G

Hi all,

My environment is:

- ESXi 4.0.0

- host 32G RAM

- VM version 7

- Guest OS Debian 6.0.3, 32 bit with pae

I'll  be running heavy emulation that really need the 8G memory. The guest OS  report physical memory available is 3115072K, i..e. 3.1G only.

In the guest Debian I checked the 4G boundary with the command "cat /proc/cpuinfo". Output shows pae flag is there

and  physical address size is 40 bits. Our customers use the same image to  install their VMs. I have logged on to one which has RAM increased

from 4G to 8G. The guest OS in that VM report 8G memory correctly. So the problem  most likely reside on the host side.

Any idea how I can make the guest see the full 8G physical memory?

Best Regards,

sialnije
